Additional comments: There were only two smoking scenes in the film, but both were prominent... and unnecessary. One featured a nervous Lila Crane (Vera Miles) making the decision to go to the Bates Motel to look for her sister. The other scene occurs as the psychiatrist explains Norman Bates' mental illness; just as he finishes, he lights a cigarette.
