"In the classic Mel Brooks comedy Young Frankenstein, every major cast-member smoked at least one time!  For example, early in the movie we see Inspector Kemp light and smoke a cigarette despite his obvious disability:

Inspector Kemp is based on a similar character, Inspector Krogh, from Son of Frankenstein.

Once Young Frankenstein's monster (Peter Boyle) has been brought to life, Igor (Marty Feldman) uses tobacco to establish the monster's fear of fire:

In this scene, both Dr. Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) and Frau Blücher (Cloris Leachman) are caught taking a drag from a cigarette:

Meanwhile, the monster is terrorizing the countryside until he meets a blind man (Gene Hackman) who befriends him.  The blind man tries to help the monster overcome his fear of fire in this spoof of a famous scene from Bride of Frankenstein:

Ultimately, love overcomes fear as the monster falls for Dr. Frankenstein's fiancee (Madeline Kahn).  Suddenly, the monster is an experienced smoker!

Think about it... the monster has learned to smoke even before he has learned to speak!"
